The transformation of the energy sector does not depend solely on developing new technologies. It also requires connecting knowledge, talent and capabilities to turn innovation into solutions capable of addressing real challenges.
This was one of the ideas that shaped the participation of Diana Ortega, Stakeholders Relationship & Impact Manager at Elewit, at ENERGY DAYS 2026, organised by the Galician Renewable Energy Cluster (Cluergal) in Santiago de Compostela. The event brought together companies, industry, public administrations and technology centres to address challenges such as the energy transition, sustainability, digitalisation, electric mobility and the evolution of the energy system.
As Diana Ortega explains, “the transformation of the energy sector increasingly depends on our ability to collaborate, innovate and build ecosystems”.
Throughout the different sessions, issues such as energy storage, digitalisation, smart industry and innovation in the electricity sector highlighted the need to accelerate the adoption of new technologies capable of improving the efficiency, resilience and sustainability of infrastructure.
In this context, open innovation makes it possible to connect the capabilities of different stakeholders and help new solutions move from experimentation to application in real-world environments. During the event, Diana shared some examples of collaboration with technology startups, academia, R&D centres and other ecosystem stakeholders, such as the design and scaled testing of new infrastructure for offshore environments, projects to promote bird conservation in electricity grid infrastructure, and advanced technologies for digital asset management and the integration of electrical infrastructure.
Beyond specific solutions, the event also highlighted the value of creating spaces to share knowledge and build relationships between organisations that face similar challenges from different perspectives.
In the words of Diana Ortega, “one of the main lessons from events like this is that innovation no longer depends solely on what an organisation develops internally”. “The ability to identify talent, collaborate, share knowledge and build alliances is becoming a differentiating factor in accelerating the technological transformation of the sector,” she adds.
At Elewit, as Redeia’s technology platform, this is precisely the approach we pursue: connecting business challenges with the best innovation ecosystem stakeholders capable of bringing new perspectives, fostering collaboration to contribute to the technological evolution of the energy system.
