Founded in 2019 by Golam Sadeghnia, Oktogrid is built to deliver key insights on an often-overlooked asset: the power transformer. The innovation is recording acoustic signatures of power transformers, and the solution is delivering power transformer intelligence.

As electrification accelerates, better insight into essential electrical assets becomes increasingly important. Transformers are central to the continuity, efficiency and resilience of power infrastructure. However, current market solutions rely on periodic, manual inspections and limited real-time data for their maintenance.

Oktogrid complements this with non-invasive monitoring technology and AI-powered asset management software, helping asset managers shift from reactive to predictive maintenance, anticipate maintenance needs and improve the availability of critical infrastructure. This approach reflects Golam and the team’s backgrounds in electronics, data analytics, and acoustics, allowing the company to approach the subject differently.

The company has now secured a funding round of approximately €4 million, led by Elewit -Redeia's technology platform- and includes Inclimo Climate Tech Fund, ABB, Delphinus Venture Capital, and others.

A critical asset in the electricity system

Because transformers sit at the heart of the electricity system, they play an essential role in ensuring the continuity, efficiency, and resilience of the service. Oktogrid’s technology enables progress toward a smarter and more predictive management of these assets.

"At Elewit, we are committed to technologies addressing key challenges of the energy transition. Oktogrid has demonstrated a unique value proposition for strengthening the management and resilience of electricity grids, and we are delighted to continue supporting the company," says Elena de Benavides, Chief Innovation & Technology Officer at Redeia and Director of Elewit.

Turning transformer data into operational decisions

Oktogrid’s approach is rooted in a simple insight: by digitising transformers at scale to monitor their performance, companies can better utilise the assets they already rely on.

The company solves this with a patented magnetic-adhesion sensor, installed in under 15 minutes, and an AI-powered software platform that turns data into fault predictions, maintenance recommendations, capacity optimisation and remaining life estimates.

"Golam has turned deep technical expertise into a practical solution for a critical infrastructure challenge," says Katrine Riisberg, Delphinus Venture Capital. "What stood out to us was his ability to build a strong team around a clear mission: helping customers make better decisions and making essential electrical infrastructure more intelligent and resilient."

Growing traction across three continents

Oktogrid now has more than 45 customers, including 12 utilities added in the last 24 months, and deployments across three continents. The company monitors more than 1 GW of critical infrastructure and has over 5 million hours of transformer data in production. Its technology has detected 26 early faults, freed up more than 8,600 hours of technical work, unlocked 198 MVA of additional capacity and extended monitored asset life by an average of 15 years.

"The energy transition will not be possible simply by building new renewable generation capacity. We also need to maximise the performance and resilience of existing infrastructure. Oktogrid addresses precisely this challenge through a unique combination of hardware and artificial intelligence," says Fernando Casado, General Partner at Inclimo Climate Tech Fund.

Expanding the platform and international reach

The new funding will support Oktogrid's expansion in Southern Europe, the UK, Ireland and North America, while strengthening partnerships with ABB, Applus+ and transformer manufacturers. Oktogrid will expand its product platform with advanced fleet management capabilities and offer its solutions to low-voltage distribution grids that increases the addressable market by approximately 80 million transformers globally.

"This round gives us the backing to scale internationally and continue building technology that helps utilities and industries secure the operation of critical electrical infrastructure," says Golam Sadeghnia, Founder and CEO of Oktogrid. "For us, the goal is to turn better data into practical value for the people managing these assets every day."
