Within the context of the energy transition and the promotion of sustainable solutions to enable renewable electricity generation in the marine environment, the ECOFOSS project stands out as a key advancement in the research and development of high-voltage floating infrastructures. The project aims to design and test at scale a zero-emission high-voltage floating offshore electrical substation, suitable for transmitting large electrical generation capacities (between 400 and 500 MW) at voltage levels of 220 kV.
In the electrical system, energy is primarily transmitted through overhead lines and their supporting structures (transmission towers), which are necessary to hold the conductors and maintain safety distances.
Bird guards are devices that improve the visibility and detection of power lines by birds, reducing the likelihood of collision with them. Red Eléctrica, thanks to both its commitment to the conservation of birdlife and as part of its compliance with current law, installs various types of these devices on its lines to improve the safety and protection of birdlife.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated every year on 11 February, aims to recognise and highlight the impact of women on scientific and technological progress, and to encourage their participation in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
We’re excited to launch a new edition of our Data Challenge in collaboration with Red Eléctrica's electricity System Operation Modelling team. Our goal is to identify identify potential partners who can provide Red Eléctrica with the best electricity demand forecasting service.
